About this role

This full-time Clinic Registered Nurse position is based at Bronson OB/GYN & Midwifery Specialists in Kalamazoo, where you will work under the direction of providers to deliver comprehensive nursing care. In this role, you will record vital signs, perform initial patient assessments, obtain concise patient histories, and provide clinical information and support to providers. You will also triage phone calls to determine urgency, schedule tests and procedures, and coordinate admissions, referrals, and prescription requests.

You will assist providers with minor and emergency procedures, prepare patients for examinations, and deliver patient and family education regarding medications, treatment, and care. The work involves moderate physical effort, including lifting up to 50 pounds, and sustained periods of mental focus while using computer systems for documentation and data analysis.

Requirements

  • Diploma, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required
  • Licensed RN in good standing with the State of Michigan required
  • BLS certification required
  • 6-12 months experience in healthcare preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and prioritization skills
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and communicate clearly with patients, doctors, and staff
  • Ability to work independently and as an integral team member with other healthcare professionals
  • Excellent computer skills with ability to read, interpret, and analyze data from various computer systems

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for appointments, review charts, and ensure all necessary documents are available
  • Record vital signs, perform initial patient assessments, and obtain concise patient histories
  • Triage phone calls to determine urgency and whether an appointment or phone advice is sufficient
  • Assist providers with minor and emergency procedures and provide reassurance to patients during examinations
  • Schedule tests and procedures in other departments and prepare patients with appropriate instructions
  • Document test and procedure results, notify patients of results, and record in the medical record
  • Perform point of care laboratory tests as directed by the physician and document required information
  • Coordinate admissions, referrals, and facilitate prescription requests
