About this role

The Graduate Midwifery Program supports the transition from student to Registered Midwife within a supportive and welcoming environment. The structured program promotes educational opportunities while graduates consolidate theoretical and clinical skills. A comprehensive orientation is provided by a dedicated learning team.

Paid professional development days and debriefing sessions form part of the twelve-month fixed-term placement. Commencing in February and May, the part-time role is based at Mercy Hospital for Women. Applicants must register through the PMCV Graduate Nursing and Midwifery Program Match.

Requirements

  • Registration as a Midwife with AHPRA or in the process of obtaining registration
  • Excellent clinical, time management, organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to adapt and problem-solve in clinical situations
  • Compassionate, flexible and positive approach to patient care
  • Capacity to nurture respectful relationships and contribute to a collaborative team
  • Current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check
  • Evidence of current influenza vaccination and other required vaccinations

Responsibilities

  • Consolidate theoretical and clinical skills as a newly registered midwife
  • Participate in comprehensive orientation and paid professional development days
  • Attend debriefing sessions supported by the dedicated learning team
  • Deliver patient-centred maternity care with excellent clinical and organisational skills
  • Adapt and problem-solve while managing time effectively in clinical settings
  • Build friendly, respectful relationships within the collaborative team
