Sun River Health is a Federally Qualified Non-Profit Health Center providing comprehensive primary, preventative, and behavioral health services to all, especially the underserved. They are seeking a part-time Certified Midwife at their Peekskill site, covering Beacon as needed.
The Certified Midwife is responsible for planning, evaluating, and delivering health care for patients on assigned service, emphasizing preventive health measures and patient education. This includes taking histories, performing physical exams, prescribing treatment, and performing deliveries as outlined in midwifery protocols.
The midwife works in consultation with physicians for high-risk patients and provides supervision for clinical activities of nursing personnel. The role also involves designing and participating in quality assurance activities such as medical record peer review and outcome audits.

Requirements
- Master's degree with Certification by the American College of Nurse Midwifery to practice in New York State.
- Minimum 1 year of related work experience as a Certified Midwife.
- New York State licensure as a Certified Nurse Midwife.
- Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based midwifery practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and nursing staff.
- Understanding of OSHA standards and infection control protocols.
- Commitment to providing care to underserved populations.
Responsibilities
- Take histories, perform physical examinations, and prescribe treatment and medication for conditions falling within the scope of the specialty.
- Provide on-call and hospital coverage for Health Center patients where contractually obligated.
- Perform deliveries as outlined in midwifery protocols and practice privileges.
- Design and participate in quality assurance activities, including Medical Record Peer Review, performance and procedure audits.
- Provide supervision for clinical activities of nursing personnel in the department.
- Coordinate tests, referrals, and care of patients outside the Health Center.
- Set standards for preventive care and diagnostic screening within the specialty.
- Follow established protocols with a willingness to follow evidenced-based research.
