About this role
As a Certified Nurse Midwife in the medical practice, you will provide comprehensive and personalized care to women throughout the lifespan, with a focus on prenatal, childbirth, and postpartum care. The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong commitment to promoting women's health and well-being along with excellent clinical skills.
Daily work includes managing prenatal screenings and assessments, supporting women through labor and delivery, and delivering postpartum care with breastfeeding assistance and newborn education. You will also provide routine gynecological services such as annual exams and contraceptive counseling.
Collaboration occurs daily with obstetricians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to develop individualized care plans and ensure safe delivery outcomes. Participation in multidisciplinary meetings and quality improvement initiatives supports coordinated patient care across the team.
The position requires a commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous professional development in women's health. Ongoing learning enhances clinical proficiency in prenatal, childbirth, and postpartum care within a team-based environment.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Nurse Midwifery from an accredited program required.
- Current certification as a Nurse Midwife (CNM) by the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB).
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Arizona.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of clinical experience as a Certified Nurse Midwife, preferably in a women's health or OBGYN setting.
- Strong clinical skills with proficiency in prenatal, childbirth, and postpartum care.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and counseling skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based healthcare environment.
- Commitment to evidence-based practice, continuous learning, and professional development in women's health.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive prenatal care including screenings, assessments, and education while monitoring fetal development and maternal health.
- Manage and support women during labor and childbirth with emotional support, pain management, and hands-on delivery assistance.
- Deliver postpartum care to new mothers and newborns including breastfeeding assistance, newborn care education, and maternal health assessments.
- Provide routine gynecological care such as annual exams, contraceptive counseling, menopausal management, and preventive screenings.
- Educate patients and families on prenatal care, childbirth preparation, newborn care, breastfeeding, and reproductive health decisions.
- Collaborate with obstetricians, nurses, and midwives to ensure coordinated patient care and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
