About this role
The SRN-Midwife at the Maternal Center of Excellence (MCOE)/KGH will provide safe, comprehensive and respectful maternal and newborn care to women throughout pregnancy, labor, delivery, and the postnatal period, in accordance with national guidelines and best clinical practices.
Working within a multidisciplinary team, the SRN-Midwife ensures high-quality clinical care and prompt response to obstetric and newborn emergencies. The role maintains infection prevention standards and contributes to continuous quality improvement within the MCOE.
This position requires a highly skilled candidate who communicates well and works effectively in a high-volume setting. The midwife adheres to national protocols and standards while delivering care across antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods.
The SRN-Midwife supports early initiation of exclusive breastfeeding and provides family planning counseling. The role educates mothers on newborn care and danger signs while promoting adolescent-friendly and inclusive services.

Responsibilities
- Conduct antenatal assessments, including history taking, physical examination, and risk identification
- Identify high-risk pregnancies and ensure timely referral per national protocol
- Monitor labor using the Labour Care Guide and conduct safe, clean and respectful deliveries
- Provide immediate and routine postnatal care for mother and newborn within 24 hours
- Recognize and manage obstetric emergencies such as postpartum hemorrhage and eclampsia
- Perform life-saving interventions within the scope of practice
- Support early initiation and exclusive breastfeeding with family planning counseling
