About this role

Embark on a new adventure and impact the global community at U.S. Naval Hospital Okinawa, Japan. This short-term contract offers a unique opportunity to provide high-quality medical care to active-duty service members, their families, and eligible DoD beneficiaries.

As a Certified Nurse Midwife, you will perform a broad range of duties including comprehensive primary care for women from menarche through menopause. You will plan and manage prenatal, postpartum, well-woman gynecologic, family planning, and pre-conceptual care, as well as manage antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care.

You will collaborate with Obstetricians-Gynecologists for consultation and referral, and manage normal spontaneous deliveries while maintaining all required patient records. This role allows you to work within a supportive team committed to putting people first and accelerating healthcare delivery for military and federal communities worldwide.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Graduate from a certified nurse midwife education program accredited by the American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM).
  • Certification by the American Midwifery Certification Board.
  • Full, current, valid, unrestricted license (with no limitations, stipulations, or pending adverse actions) in a State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia that abides by the State requirements of the location of performance.
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a broad range of duties as a Certified Nurse Midwife in accordance with commercial best practices and local, federal, and agency-wide guidance.
  • Provide comprehensive primary care to women from menarche through menopause, including prenatal, postpartum, well-woman gynecologic, family planning, and pre-conceptual care.
  • Manage antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care, including normal spontaneous deliveries.
  • Consult, collaborate, and refer with Obstetricians-Gynecologists as needed.
  • Take health histories and perform obstetrical physical evaluations; collect, document, and evaluate patient data.
  • Assess patient needs, formulate, and implement a plan of care consistent with established guidelines.
  • Prescribe medications as required in accordance with MTF privileges.
  • Maintain all required patient records and report pertinent information.
