About this role

The Clinical Support Midwife provides direct clinical support and acts as a mentor for students, graduates, newly appointed or less experienced midwives. The role focuses on developing high quality clinical skills while delivering exceptional patient-centred care at Mercy Hospital for Women Heidelberg.

Day-to-day work includes supporting the implementation and evaluation of clinical learning activities across the organisation. Collaboration occurs with the Director of Nursing and Midwifery Education, ADONM Nursing and Midwifery Education and Clinical Nursing and Midwifery Educators to strengthen learning outcomes.

Requirements

  • Registered Midwife with APHRA
  • Excellent clinical, time management, organisational and communication skills with the ability to adapt and problem solve
  • Compassionate, flexible and positive approach to effective patient care and management
  • Ability to nurture friendly, respectful relationships and contribute to a collaborative team environment
  • Current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check
  • Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct clinical support and act as a mentor for students, graduates, newly appointed or less experienced midwives to develop high quality clinical skills
  • Support the implementation and evaluation of clinical learning activities across the organisation
  • Collaborate with the Director of Nursing and Midwifery Education and Clinical Nursing and Midwifery Educators on learning programs
  • Facilitate clinical skill development sessions for midwives in maternity care settings
  • Monitor and assess clinical competencies of less experienced staff during patient care
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of clinical education resources and processes
