The Learning Team at Mercy Health is committed to delivering high-quality education that promotes excellence in professional practice by empowering nurses and midwives within the public health sector to implement innovative clinical education. This pivotal role supports midwives to work to the full scope of their practice, strengthening capability, confidence, and contemporary care delivery.

Based at Mercy Hospital for Women, you will provide direct clinical support and mentorship to students, graduates, newly appointed or less experienced midwives, as well as experienced midwives. You will contribute to the implementation and evaluation of clinical learning activities across the organisation, working collaboratively with the Director of Nursing and Midwifery Education, the Assistant Director, and Clinical Midwifery Educators.

You will be part of a vibrant and forward-thinking Midwifery Education Team that is transforming how education is designed and delivered. The team is dedicated to fostering a collaborative environment where every member can contribute to shaping the future of midwifery care.

Requirements

  • Dual qualified Registered Nurse / Registered Midwife with APHRA
  • Excellent clinical, time management, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to adapt and problem solve
  • A compassionate, flexible and positive approach to effective patient care and management
  • The ability to nurture friendly, respectful relationships and contribute to a collaborative team environment
  • Current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
  • Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct clinical support and mentorship to students, graduates, newly appointed or less experienced midwives, as well as experienced midwives
  • Support the ongoing development of high-quality clinical skills and professional growth among midwives
  • Contribute to the implementation and evaluation of clinical learning activities across the organisation
  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Nursing and Midwifery Education, the Assistant Director of Nursing and Midwifery Education (Women’s and Children’s Program), and Clinical Midwifery Educators
  • Empower nurses and midwives to implement innovative clinical education within the public health sector
  • Strengthen midwives' capability, confidence, and contemporary care delivery through education and support
