About this role

St Vincent's Health Australia, the nation's largest not-for-profit provider of health and aged care services, is seeking a Registered Midwife to join the Maternity Department at The Mater Hospital in North Sydney. This permanent part-time role is specifically based in the Birth Suite, where you will assume responsibility for planning and delivering holistic patient care to assigned patients.

In this role, you will take ownership of evaluating and documenting patient assessments, planning, implementation, and nursing care outcomes. You will also be responsible for arranging your own roster, ensuring study days and debriefing sessions are noted and included, while promoting proactive communication and seeking assistance as necessary.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, with a focus on providing optimal patient care. The Mater Hospital is one of Sydney's premier private hospitals, conveniently located near North Sydney, St Leonards, and Crows Nest train stations, with bus access on Pacific Highway.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Nursing and Midwifery
  • Current AHPRA registration
  • Minimum 2 years' experience across the Midwifery scope of practice
  • Ability to maintain collaborative and effective relationships with multidisciplinary team members
  • Understanding and ability to function within the ANMC guidelines
  • Advanced patient service skills

Responsibilities

  • Assume responsibility for planning and delivering holistic patient care for assigned patients
  • Take responsibility for evaluating and documenting assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care
  • Arrange your own roster, ensuring study days and debriefing sessions are noted and included
  • Promote a proactive approach to communication and seek assistance as necessary
  • Work as part of a team in accordance with agreed performance measures
  • Report to the Nurse Unit Manager for the provision of optimal patient care
  • Function within the ANMC guidelines and maintain collaborative relationships with multidisciplinary team members
