About this role

The Graduate Midwifery Program supports the transition from student to Registered Midwife within a supportive environment at Werribee Mercy Hospital. It promotes educational opportunities for graduates to consolidate theoretical and clinical skills through a structured pathway. The fixed-term program commences in February and May.

Participants complete a comprehensive orientation followed by paid professional development days and regular debriefing sessions. A dedicated learning team provides ongoing guidance to help consolidate skills in maternity care. This approach fosters a welcoming setting focused on patient-centred outcomes.

Requirements

  • Registration as a Midwife with AHPRA or in the process of obtaining
  • Excellent clinical, time management, organisational and communication skills
  • Compassionate, flexible and positive approach to patient care and management
  • Ability to nurture friendly, respectful relationships in a collaborative team
  • Current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check
  • Proof of current influenza vaccination and other required vaccination status

Responsibilities

  • Consolidate theoretical and clinical skills as a newly registered midwife
  • Deliver patient-centred care across antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal settings
  • Apply clinical judgement, time management and problem-solving in maternity care
  • Maintain accurate documentation and adapt care plans to individual needs
  • Participate in debriefing sessions to reflect on practice and outcomes
  • Build respectful relationships with women, families and the multidisciplinary team
