About this role

NorWest Community Health Centres, a community-based non-profit funded by Ontario Health, seeks 1 FTE contract Midwife until July 2027 at the Thunder Bay site and others. Provide services within scope of practice at Thunder Bay, Longlac, Armstrong, and Kakabeka sites. Strong emphasis on disease prevention, health promotion, education, and community partnerships.

Deliver low-risk and complex prenatal, intra-partum, and post-partum care for pregnant clients and their babies. Perform and evaluate NST’s, manage clients with GDM, epidurals, oxytocin, augmentation, and induction of labour. Practice compassionate, respectful, non-judgmental, culturally sensitive care in an informed choice model.

Requirements

  • General Registrant in good standing with the College of Midwives of Ontario and QAP up to date
  • Member of the Association of Ontario Midwives
  • Up to date NRP, FHS, CPR, and Emergency skills certification
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working as a midwife
  • Demonstrated experience in low-risk and complex prenatal, intra-partum, post-partum care
  • Demonstrated practice of compassionate, respectful, non-judgmental, culturally sensitive care
  • Highly motivated to work with high needs populations
  • Proficiency in computer technology (Microsoft Office, Outlook etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Provide midwifery services at Thunder Bay, Longlac, Armstrong, and Kakabeka sites
  • Deliver low-risk and complex prenatal, intra-partum, and post-partum care for clients and babies
