About this role
Join Legacy Health as a Certified Nurse Midwife and provide compassionate, family-centered care to women and newborns. This role is part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to treating every patient with dignity and making life better for the community.
You will practice the full scope of midwifery, delivering independent antepartum, postpartum, family-planning, and well-woman gynecological care. Your expertise will support adolescent and adult women across low, moderate, and high-risk pregnancies, guided by established practice protocols and standards.
Collaboration is key as you work closely with consulting physicians and participate in daily staff rotations. Your practice includes full outpatient care, and you will follow organizational and regulatory policies under the direction of the Midwifery Services Program Director.
This position initially covers a 16-week leave of absence at 40 hours per week, with ongoing as-needed shifts available. It offers a meaningful opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven healthcare environment that values equity and inclusion.
Requirements
- Full scope women’s healthcare and midwifery experience preferred.
- Current applicable state license as a Registered Nurse / Nurse Midwife / Nurse Practitioner with Prescriptive Privileges (NP-PP).
- National Certification as a Nurse Midwife (MW) required.
- Current BLS for Provider Certification from the American Heart Association.
- Active member in good standing of Hospital Medical Staff.
- Ability to conduct research.
- Demonstrated competency in clinical care appropriate to the ages of patients served.
- Ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs, growth and development, and range of treatment.
Responsibilities
- Practice the full scope of midwifery.
- Provide independent antepartum, postpartum, family-planning, and well-woman gynecological care to adolescent and adult women of all risk levels.
- Function in collaborative relationships with consulting physicians as clinically indicated.
- Participate in daily functions and staff rotations as directed by the Midwifery Services Program Director.
- Follow all organizational, regulatory, and human resource policies and procedures established by Legacy Portland Hospitals.
- Engage in full participation in outpatient care.
- Provide care guided by practice protocols and standards jointly established by the Emanuel Hospital Midwifery Service Staff and Program Director.
