About this role
As a Certified Nurse Midwife at Catawba Valley Medical Center, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating midwifery care delivered to an assigned group of patients. You will function within the expectations of the service, providing comprehensive, accessible healthcare in the region's largest not-for-profit community hospital.
Day-to-day, you will manage the full spectrum of midwifery care, from prenatal through postpartum, collaborating closely with our skilled nurses and providers. Our hospital offers a wide array of medical specialties, ensuring you can treat virtually any type of injury or illness while providing high-quality, easily accessible care close to home.

With no previous experience required, you will receive training and on-the-job experience to become proficient in the basic aspects of the job within three months of employment.
Requirements
- Master's graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Completion of an approved post-basic program of study and clinical experience for Nurse-Midwifery
- Certification from the American Midwifery Certification Board
- Possession of a current North Carolina RN license
- Approved to perform medical acts by the joint midwifery sub-committee of the NC Board of Nursing and NC Board of Medical Examiners
- NRP certification required
- BCLS certification required; if not from the American Heart Association (AHA), an AHA certification is required within three months of employment date
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate midwifery care for an assigned group of patients
- Function within the expectations of the maternity service
- Provide comprehensive prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn care
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care
- Perform medical acts as approved by the joint midwifery sub-committee of the NC Board of Nursing and NC Board of Medical Examiners
- Maintain proficiency in basic aspects of the job within three months of employment date
