About this role
Saint Peter's Healthcare System, one of the few hospitals in the world to earn its 7th consecutive Magnet designation and first Magnet with Distinction, is seeking a Lactation Consultant - Registered Nurse for our Mother-Baby 3AB unit. This per diem role is part of an award-winning nursing team dedicated to exceptional patient outcomes.
In this position, you will identify the educational needs of breastfeeding mothers and nursing staff across LDR, Mother-Baby, NICU, Antepartum, and Pediatric units. You will plan, implement, and evaluate one-on-one and in-service educational programs in close collaboration with the Clinical Specialist.
As a lactation resource person, you will develop and maintain records while providing consultation, promotion, and support to medical staff as requested. Your expertise will directly influence the quality of breastfeeding care delivered to families in our Magnet-recognized facility.

Requirements
- Current licensed Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey
- Prior experience working with breastfeeding mothers on an inpatient and/or outpatient basis
- IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) certification
- BLS certification required, as approved by the American Heart Association
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Provider) certification
Responsibilities
- Identify educational needs of LDR/Mother-Baby, NICU, Antepartum, and Pediatric breastfeeding mothers and nursing staff
- Plan, implement, and evaluate one-on-one and in-service educational programs in conjunction with the Clinical Specialist
- Develop and maintain records and serve as a lactation resource person
- Provide consultation, promotion, and support to medical staff as requested
- Assess breastfeeding mothers and infants to provide tailored lactation education and support
- Collaborate with nursing and medical teams to promote evidence-based breastfeeding practices
