As a Lactation Consultant, you will work alongside a passionate and dedicated team, providing direct lactation care, education, and instruction to breastfeeding mothers and their infants across all inpatient units and outpatient areas.

In this role, you will perform initial and ongoing assessments of the mother/baby dyad's lactation goals and issues. You will develop evidence-based feeding plans that address both the mother's and infant's feeding issues, and complete newborn hearing screenings and metabolic screening samples for the laboratory.

This PRN position offers a flexible schedule with typical shifts between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., working a total of 48 hours within a six-week period based on patient needs. You will be responsible for designing and implementing patient education, caregiver development, consultation, research, and community involvement.

Requirements

  • Meets educational/licensing requirements for the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Ability to provide lactation support across all inpatient units and outpatient areas
  • Strong assessment skills for mother/infant dyad lactation goals and issues
  • Knowledge of current lactation theories and research
  • Experience developing evidence-based feeding plans
