About this role

Reporting to the Patient Care Manager, the Lactation Consultant provides in-patient and out-patient consultation and plan of care for families requiring breastfeeding assistance. This role is based at Credit Valley Hospital, part of Trillium Health Partners, one of Canada's largest community-based teaching hospitals.

In this temporary full-time position (6 months), you will act as a breastfeeding leader within the Women's and Children's Program. Your work will directly support the department's goal of achieving Breastfeeding Friendly Initiative (BFI) status by coaching and role modeling breastfeeding best practice for staff and physicians.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in the Postnatal Clinics, working days and evenings seven days a week. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to change initiatives that improve breastfeeding performance targets across the program.

This position provides a chance to deepen your expertise in lactation consulting within a large, diverse community hospital setting. You will help shape patient and family-centred care while supporting the professional development of colleagues.

Requirements

  • Current Certificate of Competence from College of Nurses of Ontario
  • International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (I.B.C.L.C.)
  • NRP Certification required
  • BCLS required
  • Three years current experience in Mother Baby Unit and NICU preferred
  • Demonstrated aptitude in providing breastfeeding support and direction
  • Experience in a consulting role preferred
  • A positive work and attendance record is essential
