Saint Peter's University Hospital is hiring a full-time Certified Nurse Midwife to join its growing midwifery practice. This role is ideal for an enthusiastic candidate seeking a team-based model with varied responsibilities. The Birth Center is equipped with tubs for hydrotherapy, intermittent auscultation, and collaborative physician backup.

The CNM functions independently but in collaboration with the attending physician and interdisciplinary healthcare team. They are responsible for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of midwifery care for antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, newborn, and well-woman patients. Services are provided across Labor and Delivery, PET Unit, Birth Center, and Family Health Center in New Brunswick and Lakewood.

The free-standing Mary V. O’Shea Birth Center on campus offers supportive collaborative physician backup. Hospital rooms feature wireless monitoring for freedom of movement. The position includes a flexible schedule with day, night, weekend, and holiday call along with office hours.

Experience is preferred but not required, with on-site training available for First Assist and Limited Ultrasonography. Requirements

  • Graduation from a nurse-midwifery education program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME).
  • Master's or doctoral degree.
  • Current CDS and DEA registration.
  • Current active certification by the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) or actively seeking initial certification.
  • Current active licensure to practice as a Certified Nurse Midwife in New Jersey.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) certification, with NRP II to be obtained during clinical orientation.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

  • Function independently but in collaboration with the attending physician and interdisciplinary healthcare team to provide midwifery services.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nurse midwifery care for antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn patients.
  • Provide routine well-woman health care.
  • Provide services across Labor and Delivery, PET Unit, Birth Center, and Family Health Center in New Brunswick and Lakewood.
  • Care for intrapartum patients at the free-standing Mary V. O’Shea Birth Center and/or Labor and Delivery.
  • Work varying shifts including day, night, weekend, and holiday call, with in-house 24-hour call and office days.
