About this role

This role provides comprehensive reproductive and sexual health care across three clinic locations and a mobile unit in San Luis Obispo County. Working in collaboration with clinicians, Patient Services Assistants, and a Clinic Case Manager, you will serve individuals of all ages and genders.

Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting comprehensive medical histories, performing physical exams, and providing counseling on contraception, sexually transmitted infections, menopause, and reproductive health. You will also insert and remove intrauterine devices and contraceptive implants, fit diaphragms, and educate patients on self-breast exams.

You will identify gynecologic and non-gynecologic conditions using microscopy for wet mounts when needed, respond to patient inquiries, and coordinate referrals with Case Managers. The role also involves supporting abnormal follow-up procedures, participating in quality assurance initiatives, and assisting in training new staff.

Requirements

  • Licensed Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Midwife
  • Must have current Medical License
  • California State Dispensing Certification preferred or appropriate pharmacology course for eligibility for State dispensing number
  • Must provide current CPR certification prior to beginning employment
  • Valid California Driver’s License, reliable insured vehicle, and acceptable driving record

Responsibilities

  • Conducts comprehensive medical histories and follow-up assessments for patients
  • Provides counseling on contraception, sexually transmitted infections, menopause, and reproductive health
  • Performs physical exams including thyroid, heart, lungs, breast, abdomen, pelvis, genitals, and extremities
  • Inserts and removes intrauterine devices and contraceptive implants; fits diaphragms and educates on self-breast exams
  • Identifies gynecologic and non-gynecologic conditions, utilizing microscopy for wet mounts when needed
  • Coordinates referrals and collaborates with Case Managers for follow-up care
  • Supports abnormal follow-up procedures and participates in quality assurance initiatives
  • Assists in training new staff and adheres to infection control and safety protocols
