Requirements

  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current BCLS certification required at time of hire.
  • Minimum 2 years recent clinical experience as an IBCLC.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a clinical setting providing direct patient care for breastfeeding preferred.
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Provider certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated ongoing professional development through recognized courses in Maternal and/or Newborn Nursing.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with families.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality patient care to postpartum women and newborns, supporting the breastfeeding experience.
  • Conduct breastfeeding assessments and develop individualized care plans.
  • Educate families on breastfeeding techniques, latch guidance, and infant feeding.
  • Collaborate with nursing and healthcare staff to ensure continuity of care.
  • Assist with pumping support and neonatal feeding assessments.
  • Document patient progress and outcomes in accordance with clinical standards.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and recognized courses in Maternal/Newborn Nursing.
