About this role

This Senior Clinician role is part of the Infant and Child team within Alfred Infant Child and Youth Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (ICYAMHWS) at Bayside Health. The service provides accessible, specialist mental health care for infants, children, young people, and their families.

In this role, you will conduct clinical assessments, provide evidence-based interventions, and manage cases for infants and children experiencing emotional, behavioural, and mental health difficulties. Care is delivered in partnership with the young person, their family, and support networks, integrating lived experience and clinical expertise.

You will join a supportive interdisciplinary team that values respect, partnership, and integrity, working under the Infant and Child Team Leader. The team adopts a family-focused and systemic lens, with specialist streams including perinatal care, neurodevelopmental presentations, eating disorders, and outreach support.

Requirements

  • Relevant professional registration or membership (e.g., AHPRA for nursing).
  • Demonstrated capability in the provision of a full range of mental health interventions at a senior level.
  • For Registered Nurses: minimum 5 years experience, with a Bachelor Degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing or equivalent, or a Bachelor Degree in Nursing plus an approved postgraduate qualification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing.
  • Registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia via AHPRA.
  • Ability to work within a family-focused and systemic lens, valuing respect, partnership, and integrity.
  • Enthusiasm, motivation, and strong organisational skills for clinical assessment and case management.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical assessment and intervention for infants and children experiencing emotional, behavioural, and mental health difficulties.
  • Manage cases involving the young person, their family, and support networks, combining lived experience and clinical staff.
  • Deliver a full range of mental health interventions at a senior level within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Collaborate with family peer specialists and youth peer workers to ensure holistic, family-centred care.
  • Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and reflective practice sessions to enhance service delivery.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of treatment plans using a systemic and family-focused lens.
  • Support the Infant and Child Team Leader in maintaining high-quality, accessible mental health services.
