About this role

We seek experienced clinicians to deliver psychological support to expectant and new parents at our newly established Gidget House in Tuggerah. Services cover conception to one year postpartum, including pre-conception counselling and therapy for perinatal depressive, anxiety, trauma, and loss.

Day-to-day work includes individual, couple, and parent-infant therapies as well as supporting families through pregnancy or childbirth-related loss such as stillbirth, miscarriage, or termination. You will conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and work independently under approved professional supervision, managing your caseload effectively.

Gidget Foundation Australia is a not-for-profit supporting the emotional wellbeing of expectant and new parents. You will have access to free supervision, CPD opportunities, and specialist perinatal mental health seminars, with all costs covered to attend the annual GFA conference.

This role offers a unique opportunity to specialise in perinatal mental health and early intervention. For clinicians with general mental health experience, we provide a free Perinatal & Infant Mental Health Training program to develop your skills.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in comprehensive psychological assessment and evidence-based therapy for perinatal mental health issues
  • Current AHPRA registration with relevant endorsements (psychology, mental health social work, or mental health OT)
  • At least 3 years post-registration experience with specific perinatal client work or a complementary field
  • Ability to work within a recovery-oriented, person/family-centred model
  • High-level communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently under approved professional supervision
  • Effective caseload management skills

Responsibilities

  • Deliver psychological support to expectant and new parents at the Tuggerah Gidget House site
  • Provide individual, couple, and parent-infant therapies to women and their partners
  • Offer pre-conception counselling and early intervention services
  • Treat those experiencing or at risk of perinatal depressive, anxiety, trauma, or stressor-related disorders
  • Support families who have experienced pregnancy or childbirth-related loss such as stillbirth, miscarriage, or termination
  • Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments using evidence-based therapies
  • Work independently under approved professional supervision, managing an effective caseload
