Consistently performs ultrasound studies for various patient populations per radiologist protocols. Recognizes and accurately documents pathology identified in scans. Performs preliminary patient evaluations, obtains medical history, reviews previous exams, and verifies physician orders.

Demonstrates thorough knowledge of ultrasound equipment and uses RIS and hospital computer programs effectively. Responds to work schedule changes, covers shifts rotationally, and arrives promptly for on-call duties. Prepares rooms for biopsy exams and assists during procedures, including inter-operative biopsies.

Requirements

  • Experience preferred in abdominal imaging
  • Experience preferred in obstetrical imaging
  • Experience preferred in small parts imaging
  • Experience preferred in vascular imaging
  • Ability to recognize and document pathology in perinatal ultrasound scans
  • Knowledge of ultrasound equipment operations
  • Familiarity with biopsy exam equipment and procedures
  • Proficiency in RIS and hospital computer programs

Responsibilities

  • Perform high quality ultrasound examinations in accordance with approved techniques and protocols
  • Perform perinatal sonography to high risk maternity patients according to radiologist/designated specialist protocols
  • Recognize and accurately document pathology identified in scans
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of ultrasound equipment
  • Perform preliminary evaluation for each patient and obtain pertinent medical history
  • Respond to changes in work schedule and cover all shifts on rotational basis
  • Respond immediately on call and arrive within Virtua Health policy time
  • Prepare room for biopsy exams and assist during biopsy procedures including inter-operative
