About this role

The Maternal Fetal Medicine Ultrasound Technologist performs technical procedures using ultrasound equipment to visualize portions of the human body for diagnostic purposes. This role supports obstetrical and gynecologic physicians in determining various diagnoses. They work with patient populations including geriatric, adult, adolescent, child, infant, and newborn ages, assisting in high-risk situations.

Daily tasks include adjusting ultrasound equipment, processing images, and updating patient records to ensure accurate diagnoses and treatment. Technologists perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures Monday through Friday from 8a to 5p. They maintain responsibility for the environment and equipment while observing Universal Precautions, Infection Control, and Safety.

Team members practice effective team functioning and assist with the orientation of new staff. They provide education to patients and students, respecting confidentiality. The role integrates PI processes within Franciscan Health, a large Catholic health system across Indiana and Illinois.

Requirements

  • Certificate in Ultrasound Technology
  • Associate's in Radiology or Ultrasound
  • 2 years in Obstetrics and Gynecology or Maternal Fetal sonography
  • Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association
  • Registered Ultrasonographer (ARDMS) - Maternal Fetal Medicine Certification
