About this role
This role is responsible for operations, maintenance, and patient care in various correctional settings and locations. The Obstetrics Sonographer provides quality patient care when performing diagnostic sonographic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention. Explain sonographic procedures to patients, answer questions, prepare patients by applying gel, and position them on the table. Perform OB/GYN ultrasound scans and/or Doppler ultrasound scans to provide physicians with images of the female reproductive system. Ensure ultrasound produces clear images for diagnostic purposes, making adjustments to equipment when necessary.
Monitor and care for patients to ensure safety and comfort during procedures. Select and examine images, identifying differences between healthy and pathological areas, and determine if exam scope should extend based on preliminary findings. Present sonograms and preliminary findings to physicians.
Maintain and clean sonographic equipment. Create sonograms for obstetrics patients scanning abdominal area for 3D-4D images of mother and fetus; for gynecological scans, image the female reproductive system. Obtain necessary information including medical history, patient evaluation, and assessment forms.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, and relevant certification required
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in sonography
- Basic Life Support/CPR
- Registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (RDMS) in a minimum of two concentrations: Abdomen, Ob/Gyn, Breast or Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT)
- Two (2) years of experience in OB/GYN sonography
- Meet continuing medical education requirements according to the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers
- Strong technical, communication, interpersonal, and patient service skills
- Ability to wear PPE for extended periods and lift, bend, perform physical tasks requiring minimum strength of 50 lbs
Responsibilities
