Highly ranked by Castle Connolly Medical among the top 5 U.S. medical schools for training doctors. The Midwifery Program seeks a full-time Assistant/Associate/Full Professor as Program Chair.

The Program Chair provides overall administration and leadership, developing annual and long-term goals, policies, and objectives. Responsibilities include preparing and monitoring the program budget and securing external funding for operations and development. Recruit and evaluate faculty, staff, and students while developing curriculum with distance learning options.

Participate in classroom teaching, clinical supervision, and College/SUNY-wide committees. Work in partnership with affiliated agencies, consumer groups, and communities as the program's primary spokesperson. Collaborate as part of an interdisciplinary team committed to simulation-based teaching.

Demonstrate professional and scholarly endeavors through teaching, curriculum evaluation, and quality assurance. Engage in ongoing professional development and integrated midwifery education. Advance career at a top-ranked institution with variable days and hours.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Midwifery or Doctorate Degree in closely related health discipline
  • Current New York State Licensure as CM or CNM or eligibility, and ACNM certified
  • Current American Midwifery Certification Board credential as CM or CNM
  • 2+ years of clinical midwifery practice with documented evidence of active and current clinical expertise
  • 3+ years of teaching experience clinical and/or classroom
  • Demonstrated administrative ability
  • Commitment to simulation-based teaching and integrated midwifery education
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating curriculum

Responsibilities

  • Lead overall administration and leadership of the Midwifery Program
  • Develop and implement annual and long-term program goals, policies and objectives
  • Prepare and monitor program budget
  • Secure external funding for program operation and development
  • Recruit faculty and staff, and provide development, advisement and evaluation
  • Develop curriculum including distance learning modality, and conduct implementation and evaluation
  • Recruit students including selection process and advisement
  • Participate in classroom teaching and clinical supervision
