Participate as an interdisciplinary patient care team member to provide nutritional services and education. Meet needs of identified patient population within the medical center’s mission and values.

Determine nutritional assessments using age and developmentally appropriate standards for pediatric patients. Recommend appropriate medical nutritional therapy and evaluate patient response to therapy. Determine necessary changes based on ongoing evaluations.

Instruct patients and families on nutritional therapy incorporating age-appropriate developmental standards. Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary team providing effective education for learning needs. Advise groups on pediatric nutritional therapy and community nutrition as required.

Direct and evaluate dietetic interns and students while implementing departmental documentation standards. Maintain professional development responsibilities and participate in departmental committees. Perform other responsibilities including annual competencies at this essential pediatric care facility.

Requirements

  • Pediatric nutrition experience in inpatient or outpatient setting preferred
  • Experience in pediatric populations
  • IBCLC highly recommended
  • Bachelor of Science in Nutrition, Medical Dietetics, or related field
  • Current Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration
  • Georgia licensed dietitian
  • If not currently possessing RD and/or LD credential, must obtain within 3 months of hire
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Determines nutritional assessment using age and developmentally appropriate standards
  • Recommends appropriate medical nutritional therapy for assigned patients and evaluates response
  • Instructs patient and family related to nutritional therapy incorporating age-appropriate developmental standards
  • Advises groups related to pediatric nutritional therapy and community nutrition as required
  • Implements departmental standards for documenting all aspects of work-related activities
  • Participates as member of interdisciplinary team
  • Directs and evaluates dietetic interns/students
  • Maintains professional development responsibilities
