UW Health seeks a Lactation Consultant for a 5% FTE role at Swedish American Hospital, 1401 E State St. Work 7:00am-7:30pm or 7:30pm-7:00am shifts in maternity care. Provide specialized support to new mothers and infants on lactation needs.

Requirements

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing program. Required
Experience in patient education. Required
Must provide copy of HS diploma or equivalent, or highest level of completed degree obtained. Required
Current Registered Nurse licensure from the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation. Required
Certification in lactation education preferred or must obtain within 18 months of assuming the position. Required
Bi-annual BLS certification. Required

Responsibilities

Provide lactation support and consultation to postpartum patients
Educate patients and families on breastfeeding techniques and management
Assess mother-infant feeding pairs for latch and positioning issues
Develop individualized plans to resolve lactation challenges
Collaborate with maternity care team on patient care
Work day, evening, night, or weekend shifts as scheduled
