The Certified Nurse-Midwife provides direct patient care in the ambulatory OHSU Center for Women's Health and inpatient 12C Labor & Delivery, with coverage requirements including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. This hybrid practice area involves triage, consults, and first assist at cesarean section, as well as daytime-only ambulatory coverage.

This role is structured to meet contract-defined work expectations of 85.6 12.5-hour inpatient shifts and 70.1 4-hour clinic sessions for a 0.8 cFTE. The appointee will participate in departmental scheduling processes, including weekend and holiday responsibilities, with scheduling practices aligned to contract provisions and equitable distribution of coverage.

Clinical APP faculty have an expectation of advancement and activities consistent with faculty pursuits, including participation in OB/GYN Nurse-Midwifery Grand Rounds and Nurse-Midwifery Program activities. The appointee will also engage in faculty governance based on rank, supporting the clinical, education, and research mission of OHSU.

Requirements

  • Licensed as a Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) in Oregon
  • Master's degree in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or equivalent
  • Current certification by the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB)
  • Clinical experience in full-scope midwifery care including intrapartum, postpartum, and well-woman care
  • Experience in teaching or precepting nursing students or residents
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Commitment to trauma-informed care and equity, inclusion, and social justice

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in the ambulatory OHSU Center for Women's Health and inpatient 12C Labor & Delivery
  • Cover inpatient shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays, and perform triage, consults, and first assist at cesarean section
  • Deliver ambulatory care during daytime hours as assigned by the Practice Manager
  • Participate in departmental scheduling processes to ensure equitable distribution of coverage and safe clinical operations
  • Engage in faculty pursuits such as OB/GYN Nurse-Midwifery Grand Rounds and Nurse-Midwifery Program activities
  • Participate in faculty governance and additional engagement based on rank
  • Support the clinical, education, and research mission of OHSU by working with students, trainees, and patients in research activities
