Join our dynamic and supportive team of multi-disciplinary Sonographers at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. We seek a highly motivated and professional sonographer, general medical, obstetric, or both.
Perform all obstetric ultrasound including Nuchal scans, general abdominal, and gynaecological examinations at the Trust and peripheral sites. Work in line with Band 7 expectations across all areas of practice. Utilise flagship GE equipment in our purpose-built Diagnostic Ultrasound department with dedicated Interventional facilities.
As an Obstetric Sonographer, integrate with maternity services, working alongside Obstetric teams, ANC Screening, and FMC to deliver FASP and achieve all KPIs. Our refurbished Antenatal clinic adjacent to ANC provides care to 3500 women yearly with state-of-the-art Canon and GE equipment in a 4-bed interdisciplinary unit.

Requirements
- Qualified as general medical sonographer, obstetric sonographer, or both
- Ability to perform obstetric ultrasound including Nuchal scans
- Proficiency in general abdominal and gynaecological ultrasound
- Accountable for own practice within departmental guidelines
- Excellent communication skills adaptable to distressing situations
- Work to Band 7 expectations in all areas of practice
- Strong team player across multi-disciplinary environments
- Professional manner in reporting high-quality ultrasound examinations
Responsibilities
- Perform all obstetric ultrasound including Nuchal scans
- Conduct general abdominal and gynaecological ultrasound examinations
- Work across Somerset NHS Foundation Trust and peripheral sites to Band 7 expectations
- Collaborate with Obstetric teams, ANC Screening, and FMC to deliver FASP and achieve KPIs
- Perform and report ultrasound examinations to a high standard in a professional manner
- Provide advice on future patient management to other clinicians
- Adapt communication style to meet needs of various situations including distressing ones
- Undertake any other reasonable task as directed by line manager
