About this role

Provides care for obstetrical and infant patients through education and consultation. Functions as a resource for patients, families, staff and the community while supporting women's education services.

Assesses physical, educational and discharge needs of obstetrical, newborn or breastfeeding patients. Identifies opportunities to improve care for mothers, infants and children in inpatient and outpatient settings.

Develops evidence-based nursing policies, procedures and protocols. Delivers direct consultation to patients and operates a telephone helpline for breastfeeding support and guidance.

Collaborates with healthcare professionals to facilitate cost-effective discharges. Evaluates new products and tools using best-practice models and serves as educator for staff and community members.

Requirements

Associate degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
Two years of L&D, Mom/Baby, lactation or related nursing experience.
Current RN compact or multistate license recognized by the NCSBN Compact State.
IBCLC certification required or expected to obtain within one year.
Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) preferred.
