About this role
The MHN Midwifery Nurse at Save the Children International leads technical quality implementation of mobile health and nutrition services in Fer-Fer. The role centers on daily delivery of ANC, family planning, safe motherhood, and child health activities per Amhara RHB mobile team guidelines.
Core duties include outreach EPI, health education, sanitation support, pregnant mother consultations, and drug supply management for assigned health facilities. The nurse maintains accurate daily records of services, vaccinations, and counseling sessions for weekly and monthly reporting.
The position reports to the Public Health Officer with functional ties to the Woreda health office and nutrition team. Work occurs across mobile sites and integrated health posts, health centers, and hospitals in the assigned Woreda.
Staff coordinate closely with Ministry of Health personnel at all levels while ensuring adherence to national treatment protocols and referral linkages. The role supports ongoing capacity building for health extension workers through onsite mentoring and job-aid distribution.
Requirements
- Qualified midwifery nurse with current registration to practice in Ethiopia.
- Experience implementing ANC, family planning, EPI, and safe motherhood services.
- Knowledge of Amhara RHB and MOH mobile health and nutrition guidelines.
- Ability to manage daily dispensary operations and drug supply tracking.
- Skill in documenting services and compiling weekly and monthly reports.
- Understanding of child safeguarding requirements for roles with regular contact with children.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate mobile health and nutrition activities, site selection, and weekly movement plans.
- Deliver ANC, family planning, IMNCI/ICCM, safe motherhood, emergency services, referral, health education, and EPI per MOH guidelines.
- Facilitate essential drugs, supplies, and therapeutic products for the team and selected health facilities.
- Organize daily, weekly, and monthly reports on ANC, FP, EPI, health education, and consultations.
- Ensure referral systems and linkages between services and health facilities.
- Adhere to medical and nutritional treatment protocols for children and infants.
- Provide onsite training and mentoring to HEW and nurses while ensuring job aids are available at health posts.
- Receive, cross-check, and submit weekly reports from HEW to Woreda project officers.
