About this role

The Clinical Support Midwife provides direct clinical support and mentorship within the Midwifery Education Team at Mercy Hospital for Women. This fixed-term part-time role strengthens capability and confidence so midwives can work to the full scope of their practice.

Day-to-day work includes mentoring students, graduates, newly appointed midwives and experienced staff to develop high-quality clinical skills. The position also contributes to the design, implementation and evaluation of clinical learning activities across the organisation.

Requirements

  • Dual qualified Registered Nurse/Midwife with AHPRA registration
  • Excellent clinical, time management, organisational and communication skills with ability to adapt and problem solve
  • Compassionate, flexible and positive approach to effective patient care and management
  • Ability to nurture friendly, respectful relationships and contribute to a collaborative team environment
  • Current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check
  • Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct clinical support and mentorship to students, graduates, newly appointed and less experienced midwives
  • Support experienced midwives in the ongoing development of high-quality clinical skills and professional growth
  • Contribute to the implementation and evaluation of clinical learning activities across the organisation
  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Nursing and Midwifery Education and Clinical Midwifery Educators
  • Empower midwives to implement innovative clinical education and work to full scope of practice
