About this role

The Clinical Support Midwife provides direct clinical support and mentorship within the Midwifery Education Team at Mercy Hospital for Women. This fixed-term part-time role strengthens capability and confidence so midwives can work to the full scope of their practice.

Day-to-day work includes mentoring students, graduates, newly appointed midwives and experienced staff to develop high-quality clinical skills. The position also contributes to the design, implementation and evaluation of clinical learning activities across the organisation.

Requirements

Dual qualified Registered Nurse/Midwife with AHPRA registration
Excellent clinical, time management, organisational and communication skills with ability to adapt and problem solve
Compassionate, flexible and positive approach to effective patient care and management
Ability to nurture friendly, respectful relationships and contribute to a collaborative team environment
Current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check
Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders

Responsibilities

Provide direct clinical support and mentorship to students, graduates, newly appointed and less experienced midwives
Support experienced midwives in the ongoing development of high-quality clinical skills and professional growth
Contribute to the implementation and evaluation of clinical learning activities across the organisation
Work collaboratively with the Director of Nursing and Midwifery Education and Clinical Midwifery Educators
Empower midwives to implement innovative clinical education and work to full scope of practice
