About this role
Under the direct supervision of the UNFPA SRH National Programme Analyst, the national consultant will work collaboratively with an international expert to develop evidence-based recommendations. These aim to strengthen SRHR competencies within the national midwifery competency model. The role focuses on improving midwifery education alignment with international standards.
The national specialist in midwifery education will provide technical input and support data collection and analysis. This ensures outputs align with national education systems, regulatory requirements, and health service delivery context. Daily tasks involve assessing gaps in competency-based education and practical skills training.
Report directly to the UNFPA SRH National Programme Analyst in the context of Kazakhstan's UNFPA Country Programme (2026–2030). Collaborate within a team addressing challenges highlighted in the 2023 rapid assessment by UNFPA Regional Office. Contribute to foundational stage of midwifery curriculum reform in 2026.
Join UNFPA's efforts to end preventable maternal deaths and strengthen SRH services amid Kazakhstan's progress in reducing maternal mortality. Participate in phased implementation toward updated curricula by 2030, aligned with WHO and ICM standards. Advance competency frameworks linking education to clinical practice.
Requirements
- National specialist in midwifery education
- Expertise in SRHR competencies
