Requirements

Current IBCLC certification required
Prior experience as a lactation consultant in hospital settings
Clinical background in maternity or newborn care
Ability to manage both inpatient and outpatient caseloads
Availability for 12-hour shifts including weekends and holidays

Responsibilities

Provide outpatient clinic and inpatient consultations for breastfeeding families
Complete three 12-hour shifts from 11am to 2330 each week
Cover weekend and holiday shifts to maintain continuous service
Assess infant latch and feeding effectiveness during consultations
Educate mothers on milk supply management and pumping techniques
Document clinical assessments and care plans in patient records
Collaborate with obstetric and pediatric teams on complex cases
