Perform assessment of the mother-baby couplet to identify conditions or difficulties based on history, interview, and exam. Use critical thinking to develop an individualized plan of care for patient and family. Provide information and demonstrations to resolve breastfeeding difficulties.

Offer emotional support and crisis intervention to mothers, families, and staff through mentoring. Create a work environment promoting cooperation, respect, and trust among team members. Engage in teamwork and team building processes effectively.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Two years’ experience in Nursing; one year’s experience in Lactation
  • Current Maryland State nursing license
  • Current Basic Life Support Certificate
  • IBCLC Certification within one year of hire
