About this role
Provides and coordinates advanced nursing care in a non-acute specialty ambulatory midwifery setting in accordance with the State Board of Nursing, Nurse Practice Act, and Prisma Health’s philosophy, policies and procedures.
Delivers direct nursing care within established policies while addressing patients’ physical, emotional, cultural, spiritual, and educational needs through individualized plans of care.
Performs or assists with midwifery-specific procedures, conducts in-depth assessments, and utilizes ambulatory care nursing knowledge to promote wellness and manage complex treatments in the outpatient environment.
Serves as a role model by mentoring team members, participating in shared governance, and maintaining a compassionate, safe environment that supports professional development and continuing education.
Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license in the state where work is performed.
- Advanced knowledge base of disease entities, medications, and treatments specific to midwifery specialty practice.
- Competency in ambulatory care nursing practice and evidence-based care planning.
- Ability to perform specialized procedures and administer prescribed medications in an outpatient setting.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct nursing care within established policies, procedures, and protocols in accordance with regulatory scope of practice.
- Provides advanced patient care based upon individualized plan of care including physical, emotional, cultural, spiritual, and educational needs.
- Performs or assists with procedures specific to the midwifery specialty using advanced tools and monitoring.
- Conducts in-depth assessments and monitoring specific to midwifery, including specialized diagnostic tests and complex treatments.
- Coordinates and documents patient care including assessment, education, medication administration, treatments, and safety.
- Educates patients and families to perform recommended post-visit self-care tasks and make informed health-related decisions.
- Delegates tasks to healthcare team members according to patient needs and team member qualifications.
- Serves as a role model and participates in educating and mentoring other members of the care team.
