Educate new mothers on all phases of breastfeeding including reasons for breastfeeding, care while breastfeeding, and how to breastfeed. Assist with processes and expressing of milk using breast pumps. Provide support to patients and respond to questions.

Assist physicians in diagnosing breast disease and advise on any physical conditions affecting the new mother's ability to breastfeed. Work with manager to formulate plan for professional development. Participate in a medium physical demand role with occasional lifting up to 50 lbs and frequent standing and walking.

Attend educational in-services as appropriate and participate in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments. May provide training to other staff. Benefit from ongoing mentorship, development, and leadership programs.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a certified nursing school
  • Valid, active unencumbered Nursing license or temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board
  • BLS certification required
  • Ability to lift 20-50 lbs occasionally and 11-25 lbs frequently
  • Capability for frequent standing and walking with close eye work
  • Tolerance for environmental exposures including blood-borne pathogens, bio-hazardous waste, chemicals, and communicable diseases
