White Oak Medical Center seeks an experienced Lactation Consultant for our Mother and Baby unit. Perform assessments of the mother-baby couplet to identify conditions or difficulties based on history, interview, and evaluation. Use critical thinking skills to develop an individualized plan of care for the patient and family. Provide information, problem-solving ideas, and demonstrations to resolve breastfeeding difficulties.
Offer emotional support and crisis intervention directly to mothers and families, while mentoring staff. Create a work environment that promotes cooperation, respect, and trust among team members. Engage effectively in teamwork and team building processes.

Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Two years’ experience in Nursing; one year’s experience in Lactation
- Current Maryland State nursing license
- Current Basic Life Support Certificate
- IBCLC Certification within one year of hire
Responsibilities
