Mercy Health Australia seeks Lactation Consultants to join the Breastfeeding Service at Werribee Mercy Hospital. Permanent opportunities available in full time or part time capacity, Monday-Saturday 0800-1630 hours. For over a century, teams have provided care when needed most, offering security and stability.

Provide breastfeeding education and support to women through the antenatal and postnatal period. Deliver education and support to the multidisciplinary Women's and Children's team and broader hospital service. Commit to exceptional patient-centred care with resilience and compassion.

Requirements

  • IBCLC qualification
  • Experience in a hospital setting
  • Excellent clinical, time management, organisational and communication skills with ability to adapt and problem solve
  • Compassionate, flexible and positive approach to effective patient care
  • Ability to nurture friendly, respectful relationships and contribute to collaborative team environment
  • Passion for providing education and support to consumers and colleagues
  • Availability across rotating roster Monday-Saturday
  • Current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check

Responsibilities

  • Provide breastfeeding education and support to women through the antenatal and postnatal period
  • Provide education and support to the multidisciplinary Women's and Children's team and broader hospital service
  • Assess breastfeeding latch and positioning for mothers and infants
  • Develop and implement individualised lactation support plans
  • Counsel on breastfeeding challenges including low supply and mastitis
  • Conduct antenatal breastfeeding education sessions
  • Collaborate with maternity staff on infant feeding protocols
