Requirements

IBCLC Certification training course
Certification by IBLCE (International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners)
Current New York State License as a Registered Nurse
Bachelors Degree in Nursing
Experience as a Lactation Consultant or Specialist

Responsibilities

Provide direct provision of effective and comprehensive nursing care to patients and their families across the Maternal-Child Units
Manage the breastfeeding mother-baby dyad as an expert
Serve as coach, teacher, and lactation expert
Work collaboratively with Providers and Nursing care teams
Develop feeding plans for a range of infants from newborn to the complex neonate
