About this role

This position focuses on maternal mental health including pregnancy-related and post-partum depression and anxiety. Primary responsibility is to provide individual counseling, with time spent on collaboration, intervention, and consultation with providers. Some facilitation of support groups for those experiencing post-partum depression or anxiety is also included.

Complete bio-psycho-social and environmental assessments on identified and referred patients. Provide interventions for patients and families such as counseling, supportive therapy, crisis intervention, grief counseling, and referrals to community resources. Collaborate with healthcare team members to meet emotional, mental, and spiritual needs.

Work in a close-knit and supportive team with a multi-D team including sub-specialty clinicians in the Saint Alphonsus Family Center. The position is 4 1/2 days a week with a flexible start time for the day. Environment supports thoughtful interventions amidst crises.

Requirements

  • Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) required in the state where practicing
  • One-year post-license experience in related mental health setting preferred
  • Experience working with the perinatal population preferred
  • Possesses critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Able to maintain self-regulation and provide thoughtful interventions amidst crises
  • Strong communication skills, written, verbal, and presentation

Responsibilities

  • Complete bio-psycho-social and environmental assessments on identified and/or referred patients
  • Provide interventions including counseling, supportive therapy, alcohol/drug assessment and referral, crisis intervention, and grief counseling
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to meet emotional, mental, environmental, bio-psycho-social, and spiritual needs of patients and families
  • Conduct and document comprehensive diagnostic assessments, develop collaborative treatment plans, and maintain documentation of services
  • Facilitate individual or family counseling, support groups, and referrals to internal and external community resources
  • Assist with coordination of transfer of care to inpatient mental health and/or substance abuse facilities
  • Participate in department staff meetings and department sub-teams
  • Adhere to the National Association of Social Work (NASW) or American Counseling Association (ACA) code of ethics
